THE WORST THING TO DO WHEN A CHILD IS UPSET
Not validating their feelings:
"there's nothing to cry about."
"it's not that bad."
Not giving them control in even small things:
"you have no option but to wear the red dress."
Not taking into consideration their limits:
"tired or not, we're going grocery shopping."
Calling them names:
"you're a spoiled little brat."
Laughing at them:
"Ha! you look funny when you're upset."
