THE WORST THING TO DO WHEN A CHILD IS UPSET
Not validating their feelings:
"there's nothing to cry about."
"it's not that bad."
Ā
Not giving them control in even small things:
"you have no option but to wear the red dress."
Ā
Not taking into consideration their limits:
"tired or not, we're going grocery shopping."
Ā
Calling them names:
"you're a spoiled little brat."
Ā
Laughing at them:
"Ha!Ā you look funny when you're upset."
Ā
Do you want to be treated like that when yourself have an adult meltdown?
